LTO: QC tricycles without license plates tagged as colorum from July 1

1 min read

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) said Quezon City tricycles with no license plates will not be allowed to travel soon as their operations will be considered illegal starting July 1.

LTO chief Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II said all tricycles in Quezon City have already been given license plates.

“With all the license plates already distributed to all tricycles being used in public transport in Quezon City, your LTO will presume that tricycles with no license plates but are being used in transporting passengers in Quezon City are colorum, or operating illegally,” he said in a statement Saturday.

Mendoza said the “no plate, no travel” policy will be initially implemented on tricycles in Quezon City from July 1 and gradually expanded nationwide, to also include four-wheel vehicles.

He then appealed to car dealerships to distribute license plates to four wheel vehicles as there was no longer any backlogs in license plates.

“We also extend the same appeal to the motor vehicle owners. Dapat ay kunin na nila ang kanilang mga plaka at ikabit na agad ito sa kanilang mga sasakyan,” he added.

(We also extend the same appeal to the motor vehicle owners. They should get their plates and attach it immediately to their vehicles.)
