LTO-NCR logs 32,000 delinquent vehicle owners from Jan 1 to 23

Over 32,000 delinquent vehicle owners registered with the Land Transportation Office-National Capital Region (LTO-NCR) in the first 23 days of the year, the agency said on Wednesday.

Previously, LTO explained that “delinquent” motor vehicles are units of owners who have either failed or deliberately refused to have their motor vehicles registered.

According to LTO-NCR Regional Director Roque Verzosa III, a total of 11,745 motor vehicles with delinquent government registration accounts have registered with the agency this year alone — from January 1 to 23.

During the same period, 20,625 delinquent motorcycles have also registered with LTO-NCR, it said in a statement.

“This could be attributed to our intensified law enforcement operation against unregistered motor vehicles. Good job po sa RLES [Regional Law Enforcement Section] at sa DLETs (District Law Enforcement Teams) natin,” Verzosa said as quoted in the same statement.

(Good job to our RLES and DLETs.)

While over 32,000 units have registered in the region, it is but a fraction of the 4.1 million delinquent motor vehicles in the NCR.

In November last year, the agency revealed that 24.7 million or more than half of the vehicles in the country have been classified as “delinquent.”
